A kitchen built on tradition and heart

Himal Adhikari grew up in the hills of Nepal, where every meal was cooked with fresh ingredients, slow flame, and recipes passed down through generations. After years of perfecting Thakali khana, he decided to share that warmth with Kathmandu.

In late 2025, Aagantuk Thakali & Restro opened its doors in Shankhamul โ€” a welcoming kitchen built on one belief: authentic Nepali food should taste like home.

Within months, word spread. Guests came for the dal bhat and stayed for the warmth. Today, Aagantuk serves guests from across Nepal, but every thali is still prepared the same way โ€” with fresh masala, slow cooking, and real love.

"
Food is not just about filling stomachs โ€” it's about carrying forward the love of those who taught us to cook. Every grain of rice, every pinch of masala, every slow flame โ€” it's all a tribute to our roots.
